First Hackathon! Seattle GiveCamp 2016
Over the weekend I participated in helping a non-profit organization revamp their website. I worked with Global Visionaries. Global Visionaries is a staff and youth-led organization that challenges and empowers young people to become socially and environmentally conscious global leaders. They were currently on a SharePoint website, and wanted to switch over to WordPress.
Their website was very information heavy, and their main pain point was navigation. Their target audience included Parents, Youths, and Educators. The goal was that if a parent, youth, or educator visited their site, they could easily navigate to information most related to the user.
The main goal was to move main information over to the new site, and work on navigation. I worked on cutting information that wasn't needed, and also merging related pages together. I also added more functionality such has accordions , and tabs to make the information more readable and user-friendly.
Although this hackathon did not involve a ton of coding, it was great experience to work with a client to help them achieve their goals.
